VOTE FOR JAMES BLACKETTER APRIL 15th 2025

Beloved Brothers and Sisters, Fondulacers,

Our shared strength lies in our united effort, resilience, and unwavering
commitment to building a future that honors our heritage while seizing new opportunities for growth. As your candidate for Secretary-Treasurer, I pledge to serve with transparency, efficient resource management, and a deep commitment to all three districts-on rez and off.

Championing Economic Development with Collaborative Leadership

I envision initiatives that foster economic self-re-liance and create job opportunities-launching projects like a truck stop, restaurant, and vehicle maintenance garage. These facilities have the potential to serve as hubs of commerce, tourism, and employment for our tribal members. However, it’s important to remember the Secretary-Treasurer doesn’t have the independent authority to start such projects. My vote will be one among many, ensuring that every proposal is viable, thoughtfully considered and also fully aligned with our current Strategic Plan and Comprehensive Plan.

A New Vision for Fond du Lac – James 'Tubby' Blacketter III for Secretary-Treasurer

The current system—18 districts divided among 6 Ojibwe tribes—has created invisible lines of bureaucracy that make progress nearly impossible. With a chairman seat, secretary-treasurer seat, and three district seats per tribe, and voting on different timelines, proactive measures are rarely achieved. This structure has become a cycle of inefficiency, leading to cans being kicked down the road, empty establishments like the Spirits truck stop or Applebee’s, crumbling roads that damage our vehicles, and buildings plagued by leaks and mold.

Candidates running against me will follow the same path as their predecessors because the system itself is the problem. But here’s the difference: I know how to make it work.

Enhancing Infrastructure and Equitable Support for All Districts

Our roads and public facilities are the lifelines connecting resources, opportunities, and our people. I will work steadfastly to secure funding for much-needed road repairs, infrastructure improvements, and other vital projects. By partnering closely with our three districts—both on and off the reservation—I will ensure that every district’s needs are addressed, promoting a balanced distribution of resources and fostering unity. This effort resonates with our broader community plans and reinforces our commitment to a resilient, connected future for all.
